Andrew McEwen graduated from the University of London with a PhD in Chemistry where his research focused on developing contrast agents to aid medical diagnosis using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

He started his career at the Imperial Cancer Research Fund (now Cancer Research UK) before moving into Contract Research holding positions at several large UK based organizations and has over 30 years experience in providing support to the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and agrochemical industries. His main area of expertise is centred on metabolism and he is an active supporter of the Drug Metabolism Discussion Group where he served on the committee for five years.

Andrew’s main research interests are understanding the metabolic fate of drugs/xenobiotics in vivo with particular focus on pre-clinical and clinical metabolism. Recent research projects have focused on preclinical drug development of biologicals, tissue imaging techniques and low level radioactive counting.
